"The 28th Dutch "Otterjacht" - foxhunting on water 80/2m"

But it is not Foxhunting nor is it Otter hunting but it is good fun

The weather forecast is for 25mm+ of rain (Yr.no and Accu-weather) plus thunder and lightning (Weather underground, Weather Channel
Yr and Accu were spot on with timing and what happened - the other two not.

This is the spot - Kalenberg - Pieter Jongschaap's Cafe (That sounds like Peter Lamb - but only a guess)

Dick is on his home made repeater - and yes all the foxes are in position
50% our our crew - David (M3WDD) and Daniëlle
The captain of our boat - Edwin - a descendent of one of these "Dutch Naval Heroes" - just that I can't recall exactly which one he said.  Michael M6MDD handling navigation, 2m Rx and camera duties is un-photographed,  Daniëlle declared that Edwin "is OK" - amazing - we told him to write it down and publish it in 2m high letters - because that is real praise from an almost teenager

Fast but tricky - paddling and taking bearings are the same time

German team come very well prepared - why are we not surprised
Yr.no predict the rain will start at 10:00 - our first dampening came at 10:06

It is not raining that much...

...now it is.
A big pile up at the transmitter location
with 15 boats out on the water and only a one minute window to listen to the transmitter - things could get a little aggressive.  We saw number 4 and thought "that can't be it - must be one of the fox-oring Tx" - a mistake which cost us 25 minutes and a medal.

This is a Dutch competition - so we all stop at a nice cafe for "warme chocolademelk met slagroom"

and major refuelling
Still recovering from yesterday

I want one of these

If my feet are size 10 this must come in at about 16.5.  Note to self - do not challenge an Dutch reed cutters to a shin-kicking competition.  Yes really it is a British Sport.

16km by electric boat and we are very very wet - but here comes the warm cafe and more "warme chocolademelk met slagroom" - bring on that slagroom!

David, It was a real pleasure today to sail with you guys!!! It's a pity of the number 4 fox, and it was a joint decision to proceed, so no worries! (And it was Michiel Adriaenszoon de Ruyter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michiel_de_Ruyter)
